Sekers Fabrics, established in 1938 in Whitehaven, was a renowned textile mill supplying haute couture and British middle-class markets until its closure in 2006, which marked the loss of jobs and a vital part of the town’s industrial identity.
Now, Sekers Objects (2023–2025), led by Handpicked Productions and funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, seeks to preserve the factory’s cultural legacy, ensuring its history and memories endure for future generations.
